Whirling and Twirling

I painted a folk dancer from India in a colorful costume moving gracefully through her dance sequence. I used to dance like this wearing bright costumes and adorned with jewelry, flowers and red paint on the sides of the foot. I wanted to catch the rhythmic movement as the fast pace of the dance creates blurry lines . The twinkle toes are also important as one barely has a chance to put the whole foot down due to the speedy steps. I love to paint on subjects like this to preserve and propagate the legacy of Indian culture in my adopted country.
