Astral Traveling L'Ouverture
Oct 19th 2019 · Digital collage
Dimensions 80 × 80 cm
Collection: Love4Immigrants
In alignment with the Un-Weaved stories themes this piece is my personal reflection of my fathers life as a Haitian / Dominican immigrant. He was an elder sibling to 7 other brothers and sisters in a single parent home. His resilience is something I've had to empathize with in my life as, though we have had our disagreements, it is hard for me to imagine how I would have grown if I was to live through what he was forced to. From constant abuse to trauma in an already harsh world that Haiti was. Through it all he raised me to be a man of substance and love. Which I am grateful for until the sun goes dark. This piece is a mythologized version of his tales, trials and tribulations.
