Artists Mothers Portrait
unknown · Pastel on paper
Dimensions 99 × 79 cm
The artist's mother is depicted in older years. She wears a white draped dress with a pink rose bow, a white, loose fichu of thin fabric around her neck and a cap with lace and ribbon. The pastel is made of a total of five glued sheets of paper. Through the relatively sparse web underneath, a model drawing, apparently executed verso on the largest, central paper, is assumed. The back cover of the assembly consists of several glued papers; On the inside of the back piece is a model study in black chalk and on a lower, partially visible paper a model study in red chalk.
