Red, Sky, Throw: Horizon A Performative Exploration of an iPhone Camera Glitch I developed a technique around a physical glitch within the iPhone camera. The subjects of these images are motion, color, form, and light/shadow. These appear as relatively abstracted, conceptual thematic explorations. The resulting photographs represent the play of finding something new and wanting to see where it could go. The overarching title calls attention to performance. I am in motion as I capture these images. Themes emerge- characters appear, disappear, and reappear. Shape, hue, and texture repeat. Horizons are divided and reinvented. From the series, Red, B is the roots of abstraction in this glitch. Covering the camera with my finger, letting studio light or the sun shine through my skin allows for deep red hues and convenient access.
