“Things are getting worse, if that’s at all possible. Even the smaller towns are dangerous now. Buckles and I barely made it out of the last one. Fortunately, starving dogs don’t care much what kind of meat they eat, and our guard was careless. Pushing on is harder and harder every day. If I didn’t have a child to take care of, I’m not sure I’d be able to continue. The stators on the gun are holding up, but the charge is low, and I don’t know if I can give enough blood to recharge them, yet. The last time I tried I passed out for an couple of hours. I don’t know where I’m going to get more blood without risking contact, and contact means putting us both in danger.” – from the journals of G. Ben Hinnom, survivor of the apocalypse.
