Man Swallows Whale Swallows Diamond (brown)
2009 · Hand cut collage
Dimensions 70 × 70 cm
The New Universe Series is named after the Encyclopedia style books I used for source material. These hand cut collages were made at the Krona residency in Aarau, Switzerland in 2009 and exhibited in a show called Letters from Switzerland at Elizabeth Leach Gallery in Portland, Oregon in 2010. This series explores the idea of travel and the style was inspired by the work of the Dadaists who started their activities in the nearby town of Zurich in 1916. I purchased the books I used for the collages in Zurch and in Aarau.
