Night Riders

One of Barabeke's early works, the second of his 3 "Operas" (works of complex realization whose completion marked for the artist an evolutionary step). This composition is based on photos he took in his first visit to New York. It is inspired by “They Live” by John Carpenter, a cult movie in which the hero (wrestler Roddy Piper) finds a pair of sunglasses that permits to see reality as it is: a world dominated by robotic elites brainwashing humans with the goal of enslaving them. When using those magic sunglasses all ads read “obey”, “conform”, or similar.
