Raven
2018 · watercolour on paper
Dimensions 102 × 72 cm
The Morrígan of Irish mythology is often depicted as a crow or raven. Both an individual and a trio of goddesses named Badb, Macha and Nemain( the last sometimes replaced with Anand.) The Morrígan is associated with war, death, sovereignty and fate. She is perhaps best known for her role in the Ulster Cycle; in which she prophesied the death of Cúchulainn. Painted as a birthday present by Aisling Allan for her mother using watercolour and mica watercolours for the halo.
