Red Son
2011 · Mixed Media on Canvas
Dimensions (75 x 94.12 cm)
A painting born from the wildly disparate emotions that come with pending fatherhood, the artist created this anxiety-ridden painting from whatever materials he could gather from his garage at the time; this included spray-paint, pages from old car manuals, errant pieces of tape and the like. Eventually, acrylic found its way to the top of the piece, allowing the artist to bring at least some semblance of form to this painting. Created before the artist returned to school for fine arts, this painting has since been, regretfully, destroyed.
