SheWolf
2017 · Oil on Canvas
Dimensions (100 x 150 cm)
Collection: The Tunnel (London)
SheWolf is part of an ongoing series of masked, multi-breasted figures. These figures are inspired in part by the Capitoline wolf (a sculpture depicting the founding of Rome, that reared Romulus and Remus) in part by a dream (which involved breast feeding puppies) and in part a response to the ideology of western, feminine beauty. SheWolf is an archetypal image relating to the the shadow self, the sacred feminine and the mystical.
