The third in a series of paintings depicting the Christian Knight St. George slaying the dragon. Kandinsky painted this theme three times with oil on canvas and also three time on reversed glass all in various forms of abstraction. During 1911 Wassily Kandinsky was active in The Blue Rider movement which often looked towards medieval period artwork for inspiration and theme.
