Trapped Island

Dimensions 180 × 150 cm
Religion cannot stand on its own and to be excluded from the society or the culture of a nation. Taiwan has its majority on Buddhism, one of the most notable Asian originated religion. As I was growing up, I realised this religion is more than what we think it is. The activities or habits the society shares are heavily influenced by Buddhism. Not to be offended by the practices, I was deeply amazed by the beauty of this religion. However, religion might be a guidance, at the same time a stumbling rock to trap a whole society in its own belief. Taiwan, as an island, how does it progress in the upcoming decades? Will the tradition hinder or hold back what the new generation is capable of?
