While working on naturalistic portraits of clients the artist felt an increasing urge to find a way of painting emotion in abstraction. One try to achieve this goal was a cycle called "Gazing Masks". Inspired by African masks faces were to be abstracted in order to concentrate the effect of colours and composition to a more pure painting of feelings.

Born in 1963, Martin Husz paints in oils ever since the age of fourteen. He has shown his works at numerous exhibitions in Regensburg (Germany) and Vienna (Austria). Presently, he mostly works with acrylic paint on canvas.
