Befreiung
2018 · silver gelatine
Dimensions (124 x 200 cm)
In this series, Johannes Wewetzer explores the forms of sexuality in the big city - it’s locus of emotions and the struggles associated with it; and the various forms it takes, as it gets moulded by the concrete casts of the city. To illustrate a topic as intangible and introverted as this, Wewetzer teamed up with the rope artist Pilar Aldea. Entangled is a product of this partnership. His pictures display a form of an antithesis between the need for intimacy and the desire for distance. A characteristic that bears semblance in the nature of the love-hate relationship of man with his city.” - Rohan Vitus Fernandes from “Eigenleben”
