Kurü mapu (3,45 min.) Collective weaving project made in active memory of Macarena Valdés, Mapuche environmental activist assassinated in 2016. For two months, Mapuche women gathered at the Museum of Memory (Santiago, Chile) to build a black fabric in the shape of an imaginary Mapuche territory. We culminated with a performance at ground zero of the Plaza de Armas in Santiago. This fabric is made of synthetic and sheep wool using mixed techniques. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtNwsKhC_Ec&ab_channel=PaulaBaeza PAULA BAEZA PAILAMILLA (1988) Since 2011 she has worked from performance, textile practice and audiovisual format based on her own Mapuche identity, being this the point of origin for her works, questioning herself and her context at historical, political and social level. Since 2016 she has been part of the Mapuche collective [Rangiñtulewfü], from which the digital project Yene: Revista de arte, pensamiento y escrituras en Wallmapu y Abya Yala emerges. She has been invited to various meetings, theaters and galleries in South America and Europe, addressing issues around the body and racialized identities and their context. Paula Baeza Pailamilla participated in the 11th Berlin Biennial (2020).
