Raindancer

The heavy rains come to the desert for the first time in eons. Finally the dancing spirt of the storms has come of hiding, and he weaves playfully between the droplets. Water seeps into the cracked soil, waking up seeds sheltered away in the earth from their timeless slumber. Flowers spring out of the ground but their fragile blooms are fleeting; they tremble from the wind. In a fortnight the last of them will have withered in the hot desert sun. It doesn't matter - that will have been enough time. They have left behind new seeds.
