Soul Hound

In Taino culture, we have a lord of the underworld (Coabey) named Maquetaurie Guayaba. Often depicted alongside him is a part man, part dog guardian named Opiyel Guobirán. He is most commonly seen as a guide between realms. For those looking to traverse the realm of the opías (spirits), they may keep a talisman symbolizing Opiyel. In this piece, I wanted to take my own approach at the enigmatic Soul Hound.
