Street scene in Kairouan

The Orient fascinated Stabrowski so much that it became the target of his many expeditions. He was particularly interested in Kairuan, the holy city of Islam located in Tunisia, with a hundred mosques within its walls, each with unique architecture. During his stays in the holy city, Stabrowski collected a wealth of material from which genre scenes, city landscapes and oriental portraits were created.
