Face It (a self-portrait)

Inspired by Chuck Close, and motivated by a desire to create art from abundant, upcycled materials, my first newspaper mosaic piece was this self-portrait, Face It. All of the paper used comes from LA Weeklys. I started it for a class assignment in 2010, but finished it in 2016 (long story, but I got an A for the class because it was mostly done). For some ridiculous reason, I limited myself to using only faces for my face and neck, which drove me crazy and which I do not recommend to anyone. However, I got there eventually, and I think it really looks like me, and like the source photo. If you can zoom in on my face, there are a number of famous ones that are helping to make up mine.
