Revived from Extinction

“The bones of my baby were once trapped in a tar pit. Just as stuck as I am here....” ⁣ A young woman fighting for a way out of poverty agrees to become a surrogate mother for an animal from an extinct species. A strange concept at first blush, but I loved how the author humanized the main character. She had depth rather than some amalgamation of of contrived stereotypes about women or poor people. Her struggles to escape her unfortunate circumstances are real, and love she felt for her surrogate child is believable and heartwarming. ⁣ Story from Triangulation: Extinction by Joy Kennedy O'Neill
