This drawing is one of Millet's very rare depictions of a naval scene. Two fishing boats are caught in a strong wind in the forefront, under a heavy sky, while two steamboats on the horizon seem unaffected. Millet exhibited this scene at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in1887, it then joined the collection of Count Armand Doria where it stayed until 1899 -français- Ce dessin est une des très rares marines de Millet.
